It started with a dream—a passion to create a luxury experience in theLand of Enchantment. And it was realized in one of the most beautiful places on earth, The Casita del Lago on Abiquiu Lake.
You know you are headed someplace special when you turn off the main road. As you wind down towards the lake, you will be surprised with views that are almost indescribeable. The red, yellow and purple rocks; the view of Cerro Pedernal; and then Abiquiu lake. WOW. It looks like you have stepped into a Georgia O’Keeffe painting.
The Casita del Lago is carved into the shoreline above Abiquiu Lake and sits on 22 acres of lakefront property. The home is in a gated community. We all put effort into reducing light and noise pollution - so you won’t find streetlights and you will experience silence.
If you are looking for a vacation home that is out-of-the way and undiscovered by the masses - you have found it.
We chose this perfect spot to build our home. The Casita del Lago offers a distinctive authentic style, endless ammenities, incomparable panoramic views and a sanctuary of privacy - providing unparalled living in The Land of Enchantment. The fully furnished home sleeps six.
An oasis for comfort, convenience and relaxation, The Casita is perched on more than 20 acres overlooking Abiquiu Lake in a gated community, with striking and panoramic views from every window. The Casita is an authentic New Mexico adobe-like home with two bedrooms, two full baths, a full kitchen, laundry facilities, and an open floor plan with a dining area, family room, fireplace, writing desk and more.
Enter The Casita and you will find 14” thick adobe walls, floor to ceiling window that frame 360 degree panoramic views, beautiful granite, ceiling vigas, vaulted halls, handmade Spanish arched pueblo doors, authentic southwestern lit inches, handmade Kiva lighting sconces, an indigenous rock wood burning fireplace, radiant floor heat, air conditioning unit, and four outdoor portale living spaces. Enjoy original artwork throughout the home.
Cook a gourmet meal in the full kitchen with state-of-art appliances and eat in a dining area surrounded by spectacular views. Relax and take in the views or watch a movie in the comfortable family room area with a stone fireplace. Use the outdoor living spaces to relax on the heated portales, BBQ your favorite meal, or watch the shooting stars from the hot tub. And if you must keep in touch with the “real” world, log in using complimentary wireless Internet or watch cable TV on one of two flatscreen TVs.
Step outside and hike right from the doorstep to explore the beauty surrounding The Casita. The Chama River connects to the twelve mile long Abiquiu Lake right below the property and they are surrounded by majestic red cliffs and purple mountains. To the west and also across the lake you will see unspoiled Ghost Ranch land and 250 million year old red rock cliffs. Turn around to see grassland meadows, Cerro Pedernal, the Sangre de Cristo mountains, Jemez mountains, Carson National Forest, and the Santa Fe National Forest. The home is conveniently located for numerous local activities and adventures in The Land of Enchantment, and is an easy day trip to both Santa Fe and Taos. And when you are ready to return to your vacation home after a day of activities, you will appreciate its secluded and private lakefront location.

The east and west portales are attached with heated floors and one-of-a-kind views. The southern portale just off the kitchen offers warm, sunlit days in even the coolest high desert New Mexico temperatures. And the outdoor hot tub is the perfect way to end the day and take in the amazing stars. Outside, you will also find a short stone path leading to the hot tub, a BBQ grill off the kitchen, and a fire pit overlooking the arroyo. A hiking path leads through the arroys down to the lake. Enjoy fishing and wading at the lake front. There is plenty of hiking through out the property. There is a boat launch ramp on the lake near the dam. Boating, watersking, sailing, jet skiing are all allowed on the lake.
